Xintiandi Plaza – FLUO

An immersive experience of digital video art

Xintiandi Plaza 'Social House' is a cultural and social pop-up housed in the premium retail section of Shanghai, China. At Xintiandi Plaza, audiences can experience lectures on Chinese calligraphy, poetry, architecture, photography, reading events, exhibitions on books, culture and art.

Digital and video artist Lucy Hardcastle collaborated with Xintiandi Plaza to create a video installation work that embodies the values of the space. In her piece FLUO, Lucy created meditative imagery with hyper-feminine energy, complimenting the spatial design of the plaza and connecting with its audience.

FLUO is a playful, visual exploration of reactive movement, depicting a transformation of matter through fluidity and expansion.

The aim and structure of the animation uses the verticality of the space, applied across twelve large screens, joyfully referencing the height and natural forces like gravity. An immersive yet complimentary experience for the 'Social House’ audience.
