Fragile Oceans

In this experimental CG film to celebrate 50 years of the AMCS, we used the metaphor of air bubbles to imply the fragility of marine species. This involved complex recreations of some of our most recognisable sea creatures in the form of precarious formations of air.

Months of CG fluid simulation R&D was required to bring the idea to life, while highly acclaimed twice Booker Prize winning Australian author, Tim Winton, provided the voice over for the piece.

Title. Fragile Oceans

The Fragile Oceans film was created as a pro-bono piece to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Australian Marine Conservation Society. We used the metaphor of air bubbles to imply the fragility of marine species, recreating some of our most recognisable sea creatures as precarious formations of air.

AMCS is an organisation that lobbies governments with scientists to try and set up marine parks and improve ocean protection legislation. They were responsible for lobbying for the creation of both the Great Barrier Reef and Ningaloo Reef Marine Park(on Australia’s West Coast).
