CBA has a dedicated curatorial exhibition space within its commercial office building, Commonwealth Bank Place South, in Sydney’s Darling Quarter. The space consists of several purpose built, glass display boxes, to showcase and celebrate CBA’s heritage and innovation.

This exhibition explores how bank security has evolved over more than a century from film cassette loaded cameras and dye-stained banknotes to intelligent cyber systems that defend against invisible digital threats.

Each display was designed to highlight the ingenuity, commitment, and adaptability of Commonwealth Bank‘s employees as they strived to create a secure banking experience.

Security has been at the heart of Commonwealth Bank’s mission since it first opened its doors in 1911. Back then, that meant vaults, spin-dial combination locks, and employee awareness.

Today, the awareness remains, but the challenges have changed. CBA still have the vaults and guards along with state-of-the-art digital and electronic security devices protecting millions of Australians around the clock.

This exhibition explores how bank security has evolved over more than a century from film cassette loaded cameras and dye-stained banknotes to intelligent cyber systems that defend against invisible digital threats.
